01 / Troubleshooting
Fix a review screenshot upload error
If App Store Connect says “The dimensions of one or more screenshots are wrong,” start with the upload field, then check the original file.
- Open the review field. In your in-app purchase or subscription, look for the screenshot under Review Information. Use a real capture that shows the offer in your app. The separate 1024 × 1024 promotional image uses its own rules.
- Check the exact pixels. Compare the width and height with the table for your app’s platform. If the dimensions do not match, take a fresh screenshot on a device or Xcode simulator your app supports. In Xcode Device Hub, use the screenshot button below the simulated device.
- Re-export a clean copy. If the checker flags alpha, download an opaque PNG at the same dimensions. For other file formats, open the original in your image editor and export it as PNG or JPEG.

03 / Common questions
Review screenshot FAQ
Does a subscription review screenshot have to be 640 × 920?
Apple lists 640 × 920 for a legacy iPhone display in portrait without the status bar. Some developers report it worked in their upload. Apple’s published iPhone specifications list other sizes as well. Start with a native capture for a display your app supports.
Why does an opaque PNG show an alpha warning?
A PNG can store an alpha channel with every pixel set to fully opaque. The checker reports that separately from visible transparent pixels. Export without alpha to match Apple’s published screenshot specifications.
Do I need a 72 DPI review screenshot?
Apple lists 72 DPI for the separate promotional image. For an in-app purchase review screenshot, Apple points to the supported device’s pixel dimensions. If upload still fails, start with a fresh capture and check the field, format and alpha.
Does a match mean Apple will accept my screenshot?
A match covers the file properties shown here. Confirm the matched size is supported by your app and that the image shows what the user can buy. App Store Connect handles file acceptance, and App Review evaluates the purchase separately.
